A number of great performers who summed up relationships the mid to late 80's...

What led me to this movie was a Google search for Carly Simon's "Coming Around Again"... I love Meryl Streep, Jack Nicholson, and all of the cast. This movie brought back a lot of personal feelings that I went through as a kid growing up at the time. In 1987, my Mum had an affair which led to a divorce and a downward spiral of our family from that moment on (and still continues to this day). The Bible says that love is the greatest of all things. I think trust ties (or even surpasses) with love. Even after my Mum's affair, my Dad did his best to reconcile, to keep the family together, but my Mum was against every bit of it. I personally don't know how anybody (or society in general) accepts a reconciliation attempt once the bond of trust like this is broken. My heart went out to Meryl's character on many levels. The movie was very well acted out, and we enjoyed it, despite the fact that it brought back some very painful memories.

LOVE STORY (Men are pigs)

Nora Ephron's LOVE STORY. This movie tells it like it is. I Love Meryl?

Who doesnt adore Meryl and Jack?

Who doesnt adore Meryl Streep and Jack Nicholson? If you do love them as much as everybody else does, then this is a must watch, no question about it.

Although the majority of women seem not to like it so much, because Jack' s character is behaving like a brutish person and the female character played by Streep has to endure all the hardship of her cheating husband. That's probably also the reason why this forgotten classic got such a low Imdb rating. Add to that the fact that it is a movie without a happy hollywood ending which therefore will definitely never get very popular. Undeservedly so, because the depiction of true to life cheating is depicted perfectly.

The story is about Meryl Streep falling in love with Jack Nicholson. Unfortunately love wont last long, because Jack starts cheating. All the grinding suspicion and heinous envy that arises after an extramarital affair, is depicted with a true to life performance, yet the story still remains one of the most upbeat stories about a family drama I have ever seen.

The movie bristles with humorous love scenes, tender family/child playfulness and has a love for the family at heart. The families child in the picture, called Annie, is played by Streep's real-life daughter which makes the mother/child interaction even more endearing and touching.

Despite all the depressing cheating that goes on, this is still a movie which everybody with a romantic heart could really enjoy, because the spirit of this movie is unbreakable: YOU WILL STILL BELIEVE IN LOVE, after having seen this heartbreaking comedy. I would almost like to applaud, just in admiration of this very subtle masterpiece. What the heck, let's do it anyway: BRAVO !
