The story of the success of the movie resembles that of the main character

I got the chance to watch this movie with my girlfriend as soon as it was released on DVD. And as the title says this movie was supposed to hit pretty big at the box office on March 13 but due to the outbreak from coronavirus it's release and box office revenue was cut short to 10 mil. And by March 19 the movie has seen it's last day in theaters. That is a sad story but as the movie says: The stars that shine the shortest shine the brightest. And this movie shined the brightest for me because I was crying like a baby in the arms of my girlfriend who was also crying like a baby, by the end of the movie.

But enough of that and more about what's so good about this film. Firstly I am a man who loves movies in general but one who always had a problem with christian movies because they were almost never inspiring or uplifting but rather propagandic and manipulative (God's Not Dead for example). But this movie joins movies like Passion of Christ, The Shack, Though None Go With Me as one of the few that actually have a decent story and that is more than anything inspiring and uplifting. It sends messages about hope, faith and acceptance, without making propaganda out of it. Does it has the best acting? Sure not. I would even go that far to say that apart from the singing the acting is pretty weak. Does it have the best cinematography? No, but it still looks beautifull and well enough shot. The music however is a different story. John Debney delivers again a superb score (although most of it wasn't released to the public... for some reason???) and the songs in the movie are all wonderful, uplifting and moving (examples: Find Me In The River, This Man, My Desire, Right Here, I Still Believe and the credits song Almost Home). But the story is what makes this movie for me. It is so dramatic but at the same time full of hope. It's somewhat also known (if you've seen other movies) but at the same time fresh with a personality of it's own. For me personally when I can get invested in a story then the acting, cinematography or music don't matter that much anymore but rather I see them as a boost added to the movie, that makes the experience the more beautiful. And that is the case of the movie. The story is what drives this movie, what makes you get invested and wanna watch it until the end. Sure there are times with cringy uses of the word "God" showing that whoever wrote the lines had little to no idea about how christian people use that word back in the early 2000's. But that is not to be subtracted from the movie. The story is engaging, it starts somewhat slow but it gets to where it's supposed to be headed.

If I were to pick any gripe I might have with this movie there is only one that bothered me: The fact that as an audience you don't really feel the development of Jeremy Camp's career. Sure he sings now and then in the movie but there are no scenes showing that he starts having regulary concerts and becoming an icon of the christian music industry.

All put together this is a great movie, one of my favorite christian movies with a very powerful story, great message of hope, faith and acceptance, superb music, good enough acting and good directing. It's so sad that this movie's success was cut short due to coronavirus but maybe this way people are more touched by the movie, seeing that the movie and the movie's success story in a way reflects that of it's protagonist. 10/10

Worth to watch

Very touching. No matter what, NEVER lose your hope, your faith in Jesus, even when you don't understand His plans. Jesus/God is our best friend. He loves us more than we can ever love Him back, never forget this. He is our ONLY Saviour, our Father, our God, the author of life, truth & love. Not matter what, trust Him. He knows what He is doing <3

Beautiful, moving, AMAZING!

This movie DESTROYED me emotionally! It hits fairly close to home for me, so that may have increased its impact on me, but it's a wonderful movie! Really for me it's a 9, but I rated it 10 because I think it deserves a higher rating than it has one here. It's not flawless, so it can't be a 10, but it's pretty close!! Solid acting - especially from KJ and Britt - brings an amazing, moving true story to life. There's not many movies that can make you sob during them, but leave on an emotional high, but this is one of them! And knowing it's a true story just makes it better. Highly recommend! But definitely bring tissues!
