Movie Description:
When cowboy Lefty Brown witnesses the murder of his longtime partner, the newly-elected Senator Edward Johnson. He strikes out to find the killers and avenge his friend's gruesome death. Tracking the outlaws across the vast and desolate Montana plains, Lefty recruits a young gunslinger, Jeremiah, and an old friend, a hard-drinking U.S. Marshall, to help deliver the men to justice. After a gunfight with the outlaws leaves Jeremiah wounded, Lefty returns home with the names of Johnson's killers only to find that he is being accused of his friend's murder. With the tables turned, and with his friend in the governor's mansion refusing to help, Lefty must evade the law and prove his innocence by exposing the powerful men ultimately responsible for Johnson's death.

Following 1939's "The Phantom Stage", the last of 12 series westerns made at Universal by Trem Carr and Paul Malvern starring Bob Baker, Universal kicked off a new series of six starring their new series-sign Johnny Mack Brown (who had already starred in three Universal serials with one more to go.) Universal, usually late to the party anyway, added Baker and comedian Fuzzy Knight to the first-six Brown films to form a trio angle along the lines of Republic's highly successful "Three Mesquiteers" series, but there were no continuing roles in these films---they even killed Baker off in the 2nd film---and Baker's 2nd-lead soon went to 3rd-lead (behind Knight) and then to "gone" after the sixth film. When Bob Baker was next seen in a film at Universal, it was as the uncredited bus driver in Abbott ...

More than your run-of-the-mill Western

First off, it was shot on film, and it shows. The color and lighting felt warm and real. Call me old school, but there is something wonderful about a film shot on, well...FILM! I enjoyed the acting. It felt real. The story made sense and believable. Overall I really enjoyed watching it and it was a great surprise to stumble across it on Amazon Prime. Wish I could have seen it on the silver screen. Bravo...

Just be entertained

It's a good movie. Good story, good characters. You're not all critics that matter to people that just want to watch a movie. Just be entertained.

The Ballad of Bad Acting

9/10 lol. Don't make me laugh. This was terrible. Bad acting, lame script and tick box characters. It was so bad in places that I actually started laughing. I can't believe I wasted £3 on renting this rubbish.
