The movie is based on the infamous "Stanford Prison Experiment" conducted in 1971. A makeshift prison is set up in a research lab, complete with cells, bars and surveillance cameras. For two weeks 20 male participants are hired to play prisoners and guards. The 'prisoners' are locked up and have to follow seemingly mild rules, and the 'guards' are told simply to retain order without using physical violence. Everybody is free to quit at any time, thereby forfeiting payment. In the beginning the mood between both groups is insecure and rather emphatic. But soon quarrels arise and the wardens employ ever more drastic sanctions to confirm their authority.

So real

Such a relatable film. I actually went through something similar funnily enough but yeah really likeable characters and in all a nice flick to watch on the weekend. I highly recommend this!

Simply addictive! I enjoyed every bit of it...!

It's been a long time since the last time I watched a movie that is so simple, human, direct, sensitive, truthful, insightful, and meaningful! They say that low budget movies could be real gems. Well, in this case, this is absolutely true. With decency and respect, the movie is touching a very delicate issue: the human relationships in extraordinary times. And is doing it very successfully. A big bravo to Ian Stout and Tiffany Groben for their excellent performance! They delivered pure acting art. An acting art at its best. No CGI, no special FX. Just good script and brilliant acting.Bravo to all the guys that worked for this masterpiece. I have already watched it about 5 or 6 times, and I bet I will watch it many more times. Its' simply addictive...
